When Taruna Nusantara Students Visit the Palace, They Receive Advice from the State Secretary to the Foreign Minister
Students from SMA Taruna Nusantara (Tarnus) in Magelang, Cimahi, and Malang visited the Presidential Palace in Central Jakarta on Thursday (16/4/2026).
Through the ‘Palace for School Children’ programme initiated by President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto, the students were invited to directly experience the centre of government, while also learning about the long journey of the nation.
Within the palace complex, the students were taken on a tour to learn about the nation’s history and to understand Indonesia’s government system more closely.
The students not only heard explanations but also directly witnessed the rooms that have long been witnesses to important national decision-making.
It is in these rooms that world leaders are welcomed, agreements are signed, and the direction of the nation’s future is formulated.
For the students, this experience became more than just a visit, transforming into a window of imagination about the future they might achieve.
In his remarks, State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi conveyed that Prabowo believes the key to the nation’s progress lies in the quality of human resources and education.
Prasetyo also emphasised the importance of awareness of the consequences in pursuing aspirations.
“If you want a chemistry score of 10 or 100, you must be aware, you must study, you can’t not study. Whatever you want to join the TNI, join the Police, you must be aware of the consequences. Yes, you must study, you must be strong in running, you learn those requirements or tests,” said Prasetyo in a statement from the Presidential Secretariat on Thursday.
“From today until we breathe our last, engrave in your heart that you, you are indeed chosen and selected to serve the nation, state, and people of Indonesia,” he said.
Not only Prasetyo, Foreign Minister Sugiono also gave messages to the Tarnus students.
Sugiono reminded them of the importance of sensitivity to the environment and avoiding apathetic attitudes.
“Don’t be apathetic, know your environment, know your left and right. If necessary, you know how many leaves are on the tree in front of the gate. To that extent, details,” said Sugiono.
He encouraged the Tarnus students not only to dream but also to write them down as personal commitments.
“Make what you get while in the Merdeka Palace environment as an inspiration for you. Dream as high as possible, don’t limit it, while you dream, go ahead. Because everything starts from a dream. All success starts from a dream,” added Sugiono.
