When Ramadhan Teaches Sharing: UBSI Salemba Campus Serves the Community
Jakarta — Bina Sarana Informatika University (UBSI) leveraged the Ramadhan period to distribute goodwill through its UBSI Ramadhan Meal Box Sharing programme 1447 H, held at UBSI’s Salemba campus on Jl. Salemba Tengah No. 45, Senen, Central Jakarta.
The meal box distribution activity ran throughout Ramadhan from 23 February to 13 March 2026, operating Monday through Friday, targeting local residents and road users approaching the iftar (breaking of the fast) period.
The programme represents a tangible expression of concern from UBSI’s academic community as a “Digital Creative Campus” towards those observing the Ramadan fast. Each afternoon, the atmosphere around the campus warmed with the presence of volunteers distributing meal boxes to residents in need.
Diah Ayu Agustin, a Child Nursing lecturer from the Academy of Nursing (Akper) Bina Insan, which is currently merging with UBSI to become the Faculty of Health Sciences UBSI, stated that the sharing activity exemplifies empathy and social care during the blessed month.
“Sharing meal boxes is a wonderful opportunity to cultivate compassion towards others. Ramadhan teaches us to share,” she said in a statement dated Tuesday (10/3/2026).
She hoped the initiative would assist those in need whilst strengthening ties between the campus and surrounding community.
As a Digital Creative Campus, UBSI focuses not only on technology-based education development and innovation but also actively organises social activities that benefit the community.
The meal box sharing programme represents a concrete contribution from the campus in building values of care and solidarity within society.
Dadang, one of the beneficiaries who currently has no steady employment, expressed deep gratitude for the initiative. For him, simple assistance such as meal boxes held significant meaning, especially as the iftar time approached.
“Praise be to God, I am very grateful. Activities like this help those of us in need. May the kindness from the campus and volunteers be rewarded with greater sustenance and good health,” said Dadang.
Through the UBSI Ramadhan Meal Box Sharing 1447 H initiative, it is hoped that the spirit of sharing and compassion will continue to grow within the community.
Ramadhan is not merely about abstaining from food and drink, but about bringing happiness to others through simple yet meaningful acts.
