Lailatul Qadar is a moment eagerly awaited by Muslims during Ramadan. The night of virtue, described as better than a thousand months, typically falls on the odd-numbered nights of the last ten days of Ramadan. So when does Lailatul Qadar arrive in 2026? Here is the schedule.
Date of the estimated Lailatul Qadar 2026?
Generally, Lailatul Qadar occurs in the last ten nights of Ramadan, and this year it is estimated to begin on 9-10 March. As for the odd nights believed to have a higher chance of Lailatul Qadar are:
The 21st night of Ramadan
The 23rd night of Ramadan
The 25th night of Ramadan
The 27th night of Ramadan
The 29th night of Ramadan
However, it should be noted again that there is no exact date for when this night actually occurs. Muslims are therefore advised to intensify worship during the last ten nights of Ramadan so as not to miss this blessed and special night.
What are the merits of Lailatul Qadar?
As explained earlier, this night in the last ten nights of Ramadan has many virtues for those who strive. It is also narrated in the hadith of Imam Bukhari from Aisha RA, the Messenger of Allah SAW said:
تَحَرَّوْا لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ وَعَنْ عَائِشَةَ فِي الْوَتْرِ مِنَ العَشْرِ الْأَوَاخِرِ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ
Meaning: ‘Be earnest in seeking Lailatul Qadr on the odd nights of the last ten nights of Ramadan.’ (HR Bukhari, sahih).
Merits of Lailatul Qadar
- The night of the descent of the Qur’an
On this night Allah SWT revealed the Qur’an in full from Lauhul Mahfuz to Baitul Izzah (the heaven-world) before it would be conveyed gradually to Prophet Muhammad SAW. The full account of this event is affirmed in the Qur’an in Surah Al-Qadr verses 1-5, which describe the night as better than a thousand months. This means Lailatul Qadar is full of majesty, blessings, and extraordinary reward.
- The night the angels descend to the Earth
This is explained directly in Surah Al-Qadr verse 4 that the angels and Ar-Ruh (the Spirit, Gabriel) descend by Allah’s permission with goodness, mercy, and blessings for the Muslim community.
- The night better than a thousand months
It is believed that the reward of worship on this night is greater than worship performed for a thousand months, or about 83 years and 4 months. In other words, even a single good deed done precisely on Lailatul Qadar has a reward greater than the deeds done over a lifetime.
- The night of forgiveness of sins
This applies to anyone who vigourously lives the night of Lailatul Qadar by praying and doing other acts of worship based on faith and seeking Allah’s pleasure. Then all past sins will be forgiven. As the Prophet SAW stated:
“Whoever prays on the night of Lailatul Qadar out of faith and in the hope of Allah’s reward, then his past sins will be forgiven.” (HR al-Bukhari).
- The night in which the decree is recorded for the year
This night is also known as the night of decree, on which Allah SWT decrees the annual fate of His servants, including sustenance, lifespan, and fortune for the coming year.

To attain the virtues of Lailatul Qadar this Ramadan, here are a few ways Muslims can observe:
