The Government of the Republic of Indonesia has officially released the schedule for National Holidays and Joint Leave for 2026 through a Joint Ministerial Decree (SKB) of three ministers. One of the most anticipated moments is March 2026, when the observance of Nyepi and Eid al-Fitr 1447 H fall closely together.
This situation creates a “Mega Long Weekend” opportunity for workers and students throughout Indonesia. Here is a detailed breakdown of the red days you need to note for planning your exodus and family holiday plans.

However, for Muhammadiyah organisations using the Hisab Hakiki Wujudul Hilal method, Eid al-Fitr is predicted to fall on Friday, 20 March 2026.
With Nyepi falling on 19 March, members of the public planning to travel from Bali towards Java or Sumatra should pay attention to the closure schedule of Gilimanuk Port. The routine 24-hour closure during Nyepi will certainly impact the queue of travelling vehicles. Besides March, here are several other important red days in 2026:
The year 2026 provides numerous opportunities for the public to rest and gather with family, especially in March. With a total of 17 national holidays and 8 days of joint leave, ensure you plan your travel well in advance to avoid ticket price surges and traffic congestion.
