WFH Plan in Response to Rising Global Oil Prices, Palace Assures Domestic Fuel Supply is Secure
The government is preparing a work-from-home (WFH) policy scheme for one day per week to respond to the high global oil prices amid the Middle East conflict. Nevertheless, the Palace assures that domestic fuel oil (BBM) supplies remain secure. He stated that with this policy, it is hoped to achieve greater efficiency. Currently, the government is still formulating the policy. “However, we want to make this momentum part of correcting ourselves, improving ourselves, making ourselves more efficient, and possibly in the near future, we will finalise the policy formulation and convey it to the public,” he said. According to Prasetyo, this WFH will apply to certain sectors. It is possible that WFH will not be implemented in the public services sector. “So as not to be misunderstood, for example, sectors in the form of services, industrial sectors, trade, of course, those might not be part of such policies. That’s why we ask for time to mature it,” he said. It is known that the government will implement the WFH scheme for civil servant (ASN) employees up to private workers. “Regarding the study that with high oil prices, efficiency is needed in working hours where flexibility will be opened for work from home,” said Airlangga after a meeting with President Prabowo Subianto at the Palace Complex, Jakarta, Thursday (19/3/2026). Airlangga detailed that the technical aspects for this WFH policy are being prepared by the government. The government plans for workers to be able to do WFH for one day in a week. “Well, the technical details are being prepared, because this is also expected not only for ASN, but also private sector and regional governments. We are preparing all of this again,” he revealed. According to him, the implementation of this WFH policy is likely to start after the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah or 2026 AD holiday. If the policy concept has been matured, he said, further announcements will be conveyed to the public. “Post-Eid, but we will determine the timing later,” he said.
