WFH for Immigration Civil Servants Takes Effect, Passport Services Ensured to Remain Normal
The Directorate General of Immigration under the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections has officially implemented a work-from-home (WFH) policy every Friday for Civil Servants (ASN) performing administrative and management support functions, effective from Friday (10 April). The WFH policy for ASN is based on Circular Letter from the Minister of PAN-RB Number 3 of 2026 and Circular Letter from the Minister of Immigration and Corrections Number 2 of 2026 regarding the implementation of official duties for ASN in government agencies. Director General of Immigration, Hendarsam Marantoko, emphasised that the implementation of WFH for ASN aims to encourage energy efficiency while supporting sustainable environmental protection efforts. “We ensure that immigration service operations will not be disrupted. WFH is intended for ASN carrying out management support tasks. For service officers or those conducting immigration supervision, they continue to work as usual,” Hendarsam stated in his remarks on Friday (10 April). He explained that employees who remain working in the office every Friday include all personnel at Immigration Offices, including passport and residence permit services, officers at immigration check points (TPI) such as international airports, ports, and border crossing posts, as well as intelligence and immigration supervision units. On the other hand, the Directorate General of Immigration is also preparing strict monitoring mechanisms for ASN implementing WFH. Every direct superior is required to monitor the daily performance of employees to ensure productivity remains optimal even when working from home. Hendarsam emphasised that this policy must not impact the quality of services to the public. He instructed all Immigration ranks to continue prioritising public interests. “Public interests are the top priority. I have instructed all regional office heads, immigration office heads, and immigration detention house heads to monitor directly in the field and ensure services continue to run quickly, transparently, and without obstacles. The implementation of WFH for ASN must not reduce the quality of service that we have built so far,” he asserted.
