JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The policy of work from home (WFH) for Civil Servants (ASN) and private sector workers for one day per week has been approved by the ministers of President Prabowo Subianto.

The policy now awaits instructions from Prabowo.

Prabowo will later designate which minister is authorised to announce it.

This WFH measure is taken to mitigate the global energy crisis resulting from the Iran vs Israel and US war in the Middle East.

“Be patient, just be patient,” said Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, when met at the Palace, Jakarta, on Wednesday (25/3/2026).

Nevertheless, the government has not yet revealed which day of the week will be chosen for WFH.

The Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa stated that the government’s approach in evaluating the WFH policy is comprehensive, including considerations of productivity aspects and state revenues.

Regarding the implementation scheme, one option that has emerged is carrying out WFH for one day per week.

The chosen day considers the smallest impact on work productivity.

Nevertheless, Purbaya has not yet confirmed whether the policy will be mandatory for the private sector or only advisory.

“I don’t know. Clearly, those factories won’t participate. Mandatory for private sector? Maybe advisory. I don’t know. Mandatory for government,” said Purbaya.
