A press release, made available to The Jakarta Post on Wednesday, said that Boughton would bridge the relationship between Indonesian and Australian businesspeople. Upon assuming the new post, he will soon meet Indonesians whose businesses are related or linked to the Western Australian market as well as assist Western Australian clients in entering the Indonesian market.
"On top of that, he will also be looking after the East Java- Western Australia sister state or province relationship, which has now entered its 14th year," the release said.
Boughton is very familiar with Indonesia and speaks Bahasa Indonesia fluently. He holds an academic diploma in Indonesian language and culture from Satya Wacana University in Salatiga, Central Java. His formal education was in Agricultural Science at the University of Western Australia.
Before taking up his current position, he held several other senior posts related to agriculture.
