The West Sulawesi Regional Police held a Ramadhan alert assembly for 1447 Hijriah/2026 at the Tribrata Field at the West Sulawesi Police headquarters in Mamuju on Friday. The assembly involved cross-sectoral forces, including the military-police joint command (TNI-Polri), the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), the Transportation Department (Dishub), Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Communication Centre (Senkom), Community Safety Volunteer Corps (KBPPP), Kokam, Pancasila Youth, and Banser.

West Sulawesi Regional Police Chief Inspector General Adi Deriyan Jayamarta emphasised that the assembly was not merely ceremonial, but a tangible demonstration of preparedness and commitment to ensuring public safety during the holy month. “Ramadhan is not an ordinary time transition, but a period with significantly altered social rhythms. Activities from dawn until night bring their own vulnerability dynamics,” he said.

He stressed that whilst the public rests or worships, law enforcement must remain vigilant. “We work whilst the people rest, and we keep watch whilst they worship. Our uniforms are symbols of hope that the state is present in every breath of our citizens,” Adi Deriyan said.

He called for strengthened intelligence functions, optimisation of early warning systems, and intensive patrols during critical hours—approaching breaking of the fast, pre-dawn meals, afternoon outings, evening prayers, and roadside pre-dawn eating. Security operations were focused on economic hubs, public logistics, overflow markets, fast-breaking food centres, mosque car parks, and identified high-risk or blind spot areas. A humanitarian approach was emphasised: personnel were instructed to be friendly, smile, greet people, and prioritise education regarding minor traffic violations. Cross-sectoral coordination without boundaries was identified as crucial, as security cannot be achieved by a single agency alone.

In Wonosobo, Central Java, the Police Chief Senior Commissioner M Kasim Akbar Bantilan held a security alert assembly for Ramadhan and Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah. He instructed personnel to increase patrols during vulnerable hours—approaching pre-dawn meals and following evening prayers—with a humanitarian but firm approach to law violations. “Our presence must symbolise peace, not fear. The public judges us not only by how quickly we act, but by how we act,” he said.

Anticipated security risks included burglary during holiday departures, pickpocketing in crowded areas, motorcycle theft, illegal spirits distribution, public brawling, illegal racing, dangerous firecrackers, and traffic congestion. Security preparations for holiday travel flows and returns were maximised, with understanding of traffic bottleneck locations and traffic management strategies. The assembly represented the police force’s readiness to provide public safety, rather than merely ceremonial action.

In North Jakarta, the coordinating body of regional leaders held a security alert assembly with 1,109 combined personnel across Jakarta on Thursday. City Mayor Hendra Hidayat, accompanied by North Jakarta Metro Police Chief Senior Commissioner Erick Frendriz, instructed all personnel to maintain security and public order. Hidayat reminded parents to supervise teenage children to prevent their involvement in street brawls.
