West Kalimantan dengue cases in 2026 reach 970 with four deaths
Dengue fever (DBD) cases in West Kalimantan (Kalimantan Barat) continued to show significant figures up to mid-May 2026. According to the West Kalimantan Health Office’s report for week 20 of 2026, there were 970 people infected with the dengue virus, with four deaths.
Of the 14 districts and municipalities in West Kalimantan, Kapuas Hulu recorded the highest number of cases at 181, with one death to date. Following are Ketapang with 157 cases, Kayong Utara with 148, and Mempawah with 115. Although Landak district reported relatively fewer cases (52), it recorded the highest mortality with two deaths. The provincial capital, Pontianak City, logged 68 cases, and Singkawang City 87.
Head of the West Kalimantan Health Office, Erna Yulianti, said the dengue trend has been evident in almost every week since the start of the year. The weekly peak occurred in week 2, with 88 cases. Monthly, January was the peak period with 287 cases, later easing to 62 cases by week 20 in May.
The health office urged the public not to rely solely on fogging, but to actively undertake PSN (Pemberantasan Sarang Nyamuk) through the 3M Plus movement.
