West Java's MSME Credit Reaches Rp 186 Trillion, Second Nationally
The Head of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) for West Java Province, Darwisman, stated that this achievement demonstrates the strong role of the MSME sector in supporting the regional economy. “This achievement places West Java as the province with the largest MSME credit distribution second only to East Java,” Darwisman said in a press release received by Kompas.com on Wednesday (8/4/2026). Across the entire region, there are five areas with the highest contribution to credit distribution. Bandung City is the largest contributor with a value of Rp 25.05 trillion. Followed by Bekasi Regency at Rp 16.80 trillion, Bogor Regency at Rp 15.45 trillion, Bandung Regency at Rp 13.54 trillion, and Bekasi City at Rp 12.41 trillion. The dominance of these areas is inseparable from the high population numbers, the abundance of MSME actors, and relatively more dynamic economic activities compared to other regions. These areas also serve as centres of growth as well as the backbone of MSME credit distribution in West Java. In addition to general MSME credit, the distribution of People’s Business Credit (KUR) in West Java also shows a positive trend. As of January 2026, 48,342 business actors have utilised this facility. The total KUR distribution recorded is Rp 3.04 trillion, with outstanding loans amounting to Rp 2.94 trillion. From these figures, Micro KUR dominates with a portion of 60.28 percent. “KUR distribution in West Java holds the third largest position nationally after Central Java and East Java. This indicates high utilisation of productive financing by business actors,” Darwisman remarked. OJK assesses that West Java still has significant opportunities to increase MSME credit distribution in the future. Factors such as the large population and proximity to Jakarta as the national economic centre provide distinct advantages. Furthermore, support from infrastructure like international airports, ports, and integrated land transportation networks further strengthens the investment appeal in the region. This condition is believed to encourage the expansion of financing, including KUR, thereby strengthening the role of MSMEs in the regional economy.
