The Provincial Government of West Java is implementing a commodity auction system in the West Java International Industry and Trade Expo (Wiitex) 2026 to guarantee price transparency and protect the profit margins of coffee, tea, and cocoa farmers at the upstream level. Head of the West Java Industry and Trade Office, Nining Yuliastiani, confirmed on Thursday in Bandung that this open auction scheme was deliberately applied so that local agricultural product prices are not manipulated below the fair market price. “We will conduct commodity auctions. Thank God it has been confirmed, for coffee, tea, and cocoa, there are already business players whose products are ready to be auctioned and buyers and traders will also be present. This way, prices will be transparent and in accordance with fair prices. So prices will not drop, and farmers will be able to enjoy better pricing later,” said Nining. This step to protect the value of commodities based on local resources is deemed crucial considering that the international market preference for coffee and cocoa from West Java is good and is also predicted to continue growing. A significant increase has also occurred in processed cocoa, which in 2025 was valued at 687 million US dollars (with a volume of 75 million tonnes), and in the first quarter of 2026 has already recorded an export value of 123 million US dollars. Nining added that this integrated upstream-to-downstream exhibition is not only open to large corporations but also provides broad access for the general public and small farmers to consult directly on export regulations and quality standardisation with 19 related institutions, including Customs, Quarantine, and the Ministry of Trade. On a separate occasion, the Head of the Plantation Team at the Directorate General of National Export Development, Ministry of Trade, Irman Adi Purwanto Moefthi, expressed his support for strengthening these plantation commodities. “Through this integration of regional and national exhibitions, we hope that the transaction value of Indonesian plantation commodities this year will be able to surpass last year’s Trade Expo Indonesia achievement, which recorded a figure above 20 billion US dollars,” said Irman. WIITEX 2026, which carries the theme “The Golden Belt of Java: Coffee, Tea, and Cocoa for The Future”, will be held on 12-14 June 2026 at Summarecon Bandung.
