West Java Provincial Secretary Visits Investment Ministry to Discuss Data Integration for Accelerating Investment
KORAN GALA - West Java Provincial Secretary Herman Suryatman visited the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) in Jakarta on Friday (25/7/2025). Herman Suryatman and the West Java provincial government delegation were received by Deputy for Investment Climate Development Riyanto and Deputy for Investment Information Technology Ricky Kusmayadi.
On the occasion, Herman disclosed that the broad topic of the meeting concerned the utilisation of data to accelerate various development sectors in West Java. This encompasses data integration on the West Java digital platform relating to investment, downstreaming, the business sector and employment, including improvements to the Online Single Submission (OSS) system, Business Identification Numbers (NIB), and other related aspects.
Through data exchange interoperability, policymakers can conduct analyses of the business environment to achieve a balance between West Java's already favourable investment climate and its labour absorption. In doing so, the government can reduce or even close the gaps causing low labour uptake. For instance, if jobseekers require specific skills, the West Java provincial government can prepare them through training programmes.
Furthermore, the utilisation of data in the business licensing sector is also beneficial for sustainable development, which is naturally a long-term endeavour. This applies to business sectors such as mining and tourism that make use of natural resources.
"We discussed how we can optimise and analyse existing data for decision-making across various fields, specifically to boost investment," said Herman.
"From the available data, we analyse it, and the results become raw input for leaders to make decisions so that investment in West Java grows well without sacrificing the environment," he added.
Herman also emphasised the need for balance between driving growth across various development sectors and ensuring sustainability. Development, he said, is not just for today but also serves as a legacy for future generations. Therefore, optimal data analysis is crucial for decision-making in line with the principle of good data, good decision, good result.
"West Java's development strongly supports forward steps in driving growth, but without sacrificing the environment and the future. This is a challenging format, but we must prepare for it and I am confident we can, partly through optimal information technology support," he said.
Deputy for Investment Information Technology Ricky Kusmayadi welcomed the intensive communication between the West Java provincial government and his office. Ricky also encouraged the effective implementation of digital information systems in areas of work connecting the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming/BKPM with the West Java provincial government.
"May West Java continue to grow," said Ricky.
