The West Java Provincial Government has begun disbursing compensation funds totalling Rp6.9 billion to approximately 3,000 motorcycle taxi, pedicab and cart drivers. The compensation is provided as a replacement for their lost income whilst they are not operating during the Eid al-Fitr 2026 holiday exodus period.

“I have verified with the Head of the Regional Finance Management Agency (BPKD) of West Java, and all the funds have begun distribution,” said West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi.

According to Dedi, compensation is being provided to drivers operating in Garut, Cirebon, Subang, Bogor, Cianjur, Padalarang, Lembang and Bandung City. Some of these drivers are given leave before Eid al-Fitr, whilst others are given leave afterwards in 2026.

“We considered giving drivers leave not only during the holiday exodus, but also during the tourism flow after the religious celebration,” he explained.

In addition to preparing compensation funds, the provincial government is also preparing health services for the public during the Eid al-Fitr holiday period. This includes a refurbished governor’s Mercedes vehicle that has been converted into an emergency mobile health unit operating on the Cipali toll road. This innovation was inspired by an incident in which residents gave birth on the side of the toll road. With this vehicle, West Java Provincial Government can provide more adequate health services.

“Today it will be launched on the Cipali toll road so that if anyone goes into labour on the road, they give birth in the Mercedes, not on the roadside anymore,” he emphasised.

The governor also appealed to all members of the public to show appreciation for field officers during their duty. Expressions of gratitude were also conveyed to the families of officers, especially those who sacrificed time with their families for the smooth operation of the holiday exodus. He particularly commended sanitation workers who work during the Eid al-Fitr celebrations.

“Likewise, to sanitation workers, I offer my congratulations and thanks. They are an important part when people pray Eid, as they collect rubbish. I am grateful,” he added.
