Commission V of the West Java Provincial DPRD emphasised that the Maung School Programme, or Manusia Unggul, must serve as a pivotal pillar in the transformation of education in West Java. The programme is expected to produce high-quality schools with graduates boasting strong competitiveness at national and global levels.

This was conveyed by Yomanius Untung, the chair of Commission V of the West Java Provincial DPRD, during a visit to review the readiness of implementing the Maung School Programme at SMAN 1 Majalengka, not long ago.

According to Yomanius, the programme should not be viewed merely as a new school identity, but as a serious endeavour to raise the overall quality of education. Therefore, the West Java DPRD wants to ensure that all stages of education are carried out in accordance with the quality standards set.

“We want to ensure the education process proceeds well, from the quality of students, the learning system, to the ultimate outcomes. This programme must truly deliver quality education,” he said.

He assessed that the success of Maung School Programme is greatly determined by the consistency of schools in maintaining the quality of learning. Therefore, the schools projected to be part of the West Java Provincial Government’s flagship programme must be able to set an example for other schools.

In his view, strengthening the quality of education cannot be done piecemeal. All elements of education, from teachers, school management, to the learning system, must operate in harmony to produce graduates of excellence.

“A model school must have integrity and high standards. The outputs produced must reflect the quality of education that makes the nation proud,” he said.

Yomanius hopes the Maung School Programme can serve as a catalyst for other schools in West Java to continually enhance their competencies and the quality of educational services. In this way, the provision of quality education across the board can truly be realised.

He also stressed that the programme aligns with the mandate of Perda Number 5 of 2017 regarding the provision of quality, excellent, and equitable education for all people of West Java.

“Hopefully Maung School will become a pilot project in building a competitive education ecosystem that can produce outstanding generations,” he said.
