West Java Police Confirm Suspect Taufik Was Arrested, Did Not Surrender
The West Java Regional Police have confirmed that Taufik Hidayat, a suspect in the case of false imprisonment and abuse against a woman with the initials YTR in Bandung Regency, was arrested by law enforcement and did not surrender, contrary to narratives circulating among the public. Head of Public Relations for the West Java Police, Senior Commissioner Hendra Rochmawan, stated that Taufik was successfully apprehended by a joint team from the West Java Police in the Greater Bandung area on Tuesday evening after previously moving from place to place to evade officers. “Yes, he did not surrender and was arrested in the Greater Bandung area,” Hendra said in Bandung on Thursday. According to him, the suspect had been hiding in several locations before finally being arrested by police in the Majalaya area, Bandung Regency. Hendra also revealed that investigators will examine a witness named Dadang Ahyar, who is suspected of knowing the suspect’s movements during his time on the run. “He is one of the witnesses and we will conduct an examination. A visual examination has been carried out, but there will be further follow-up,” he said. He stated that investigators are currently deepening witness statements and completing evidence to fully uncover the series of events involving the false imprisonment and abuse allegedly perpetrated by the suspect against the victim. Additionally, Hendra said the West Java Police are open to the possibility of other victims in similar cases involving the suspect. He added that his party has monitored several social media posts containing confessions from individuals claiming to have been victims of the suspect. “We have received posts on social media from people claiming to be victims. We are opening the door for anyone who feels they are a victim to report it,” Hendra said. Previously, Taufik Hidayat was named a suspect in the case of false imprisonment and abuse against YTR, which allegedly lasted for approximately three years in a boarding house in the Cileunyi area, Bandung Regency. The victim suffered a number of severe injuries affecting her physical condition, including impaired vision, difficulty speaking, and an inability to walk normally.
