West Java High Prosecutor's Office Names Indramayu Deputy Regent Syaefudin as Suspect in DPRD Housing Allowance Corruption Case
The West Java High Prosecutor’s Office (Kejati Jabar) has officially named the active Deputy Regent of Indramayu, Syaefudin, as a suspect in a case of alleged corruption concerning housing and transport allowances for leaders and members of the Indramayu Regency DPRD for the 2022 to 2025 fiscal years. The scandal is estimated to have caused state losses amounting to tens of billions of rupiah.
In addition to Syaefudin, special crime investigators from Kejati Jabar have also named two senior officials within the Indramayu DPRD Secretariat as suspects in the same case cluster.
The Head of Legal Information at Kejati Jabar, Nur Sricahyawijaya, confirmed the initial summons of the three suspects today. Syaefudin’s role is being investigated in his capacity when he still held a legislative leadership position.
The three suspects and their regulatory roles within the government structure are as follows: Syaefudin, former Chairman of the Indramayu Regency DPRD for the 2019–2024 period, who is currently serving as Deputy Regent of Indramayu for the 2024–2029 period; IM, Acting Secretary of the Indramayu DPRD (1 November 2021–11 August 2022) who also acted as Budget User; and AF, the definitive Secretary of the Indramayu DPRD (12 August 2022–June 2025) who also acted as Budget User.
“So the special crime investigators from Kejati Jabar summoned three suspects, namely S, IM, and AF. Today, examinations were conducted on two suspects, IM and AF, starting from 09.00 WIB,” said Nur Sricahyawijaya on Friday (12/6/2026).
Nur Sricahyawijaya revealed that, based on the official audit calculation results from the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK), the policy for disbursing the housing allowances and official transport fleets was proven to violate legal regulations.
“Regarding this alleged corruption case, according to the state loss calculation results from the BPK, the value reached approximately 18 billion rupiah,” she stressed.
However, in this initial examination agenda, Syaefudin failed to comply with the investigators’ summons. The Deputy Regent’s legal counsel sent an official medical certificate stating that their client’s health condition was declining, in order to request a rescheduling of the legal examination process.
The corruption scandal ensnaring the Deputy Regent presents a sharp irony for the running of the Indramayu Regency Government. This legal case has surfaced precisely when the Regent of Indramayu, Lucky Hakim, is garnering appreciation at the national level.
Lucky Hakim (46) recently led Indramayu Regency to rank fifth nationally as the regent with the best performance report in Indonesia. The prestigious award was officially released by the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) based on the results of the Regional Government Administration Evaluation (EPPD). However, the impressive achievement carved out by the former actor must now be overshadowed by the legal vortex of an Rp18 billion corruption case entangling his dual leadership partner in the executive branch.
