West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi has warmly welcomed the exodus of residents undertaking mudik (homecoming) travel for Eid 2026, whilst issuing an important safety message to travellers.

Mulyadi conveyed a critical message to all those travelling during the Eid exodus, urging them to prioritise safety throughout their journey to their hometowns. “Those heading out for Eid travel now, please be careful on the roads. Safe travels to your destination,” stressed Dedi Mulyadi, emphasising the importance of road vigilance.

Beyond safety, Governor Dedi also reminded residents observing the Ramadan fast to maintain their enthusiasm and motivation. “Keep working hard and do not be lazy,” he added.

This message serves as a crucial reminder to all travellers in West Java to ensure their mudik journey is safe, comfortable and smooth, whilst maintaining their health during Ramadan.

In managing this year’s exodus, the National Police has prepared various dynamic Traffic Management and Engineering (MRLL) scenarios to be applied situationally based on real-time road conditions. Several schemes have been prepared, including contraflow, local one-way, and national one-way systems.

Based on evaluation and coordination with various parties, the peak of the exodus is estimated to occur on 18 March. However, if density parameters are met earlier, traffic engineering schemes will be implemented ahead of schedule.

The Head of the Traffic Police Corps (Kakorlantas), Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, explained at the Rest Area KM 57 A on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road in West Java that the first phase of one-way schemes will be implemented from KM 70 to KM 236.

This scheme represents an expansion from the previous year, which was only applied up to KM 188. “If congestion persists, the scheme will be immediately extended to KM 414,” he stated.

Jasa Marga recorded 812,342 vehicles departing the Greater Jakarta area from H-10 to H-6 of Eid 2026, with the increase driven by toll rate discounts and work-from-anywhere policies.
