West Java Governor KDM Says WFH for Civil Servants Has Long Been Implemented in the Province and Claims It Effectively Reduces Fuel Consumption
BANDUNG – West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi (KDM) believes that the central government’s plan to implement a work-from-home (WFH) policy for civil servants is not a new matter for the West Java Provincial Government. He stated that this flexible working system has long been in operation within the provincial government environment.
“Yes, we’ve been running it for a long time,” KDM said in a written statement received on Monday (30/3/2026). According to him, the working system is effective in supporting government performance.
He explained that the effectiveness of the policy can be seen from the development achievements in the region. The indicator of success, he said, does not lie in the employees’ working pattern, but in the development results produced.
“Effective. Just look at the development products. Whether the development products succeed or not, that’s the measure,” said KDM.
He explained that during the implementation of the flexible working system, government administration continues to run well. Even the realisation of regional budget spending is said to remain optimal.
“So far, the administration has run well. Then the budget spending realisation is even over,” he said.
In addition, the WFH policy is also seen to impact the efficiency of fuel oil (BBM) usage in the government environment. Reduced employee mobility has led to lower BBM consumption and indirectly helps suppress routine regional government spending.
“With WFH, we’ve long had reduced BBM. That means there’s no problem with all that,” he said.
He added that the reduction in BBM usage also affects government operational expenditures. “It impacts government spending. Routine spending decreases because BBM usage has long been reduced,” he explained.
