West Java Enters High Category in 2025 Interfaith Harmony Index
West Java’s Interfaith Harmony Index (IKUB) for 2025 is recorded at 79.43, entering the high category. This achievement reflects tolerant and harmonious relations among religious communities.
Head of the West Java Bappeda, Dedi Mulyadi, stated that the IKUB serves as an indicator of the local government’s success in mitigating religion-motivated social conflicts. The stable condition is also seen as capable of creating a sense of security for investors and economic actors.
West Java’s IKUB score is above the national average of 77.89. This indicates that the level of harmony in the region is relatively better compared to the national level.
According to Dedi, this achievement is influenced by various factors, from social conditions to local government policies. Institutional development programmes and interfaith activities have also contributed to maintaining harmony.
“Society’s social relations are relatively harmonious and mutually respectful in carrying out worship. Large-scale religious conflicts are considered minimal,” said Dedi in a written statement on Monday (30/3/2026).
In addition, the existence of the Interfaith Harmony Forum (FKUB) at the provincial to district/city levels is also considered to play an important role. This institution actively maintains social stability and strengthens communication among religious communities.
Social interactions among people from various religious backgrounds also serve as supporting factors. This strengthens togetherness and improves the quality of harmony in society.
The West Java Provincial Government continues to promote various policies that strengthen social harmony. These efforts are carried out to maintain stability and the sustainability of interfaith harmony in the region.
