JAKARTA - The West Jakarta Transport Sub-Department (Sudishub) carried out a raid on illegal parking attendants (jukir) who were charging high fees in the Jalan Puri Indah Raya area, Kembangan, West Jakarta, on Friday (27/3/2026). The inspection followed public complaints regarding the practice of demanding excessive parking fees under the pretext of requesting an Eid Bonus (THR). Head of the Operations Section of the West Jakarta Sudishub, Agus Prasetiyo, stated that his team had directly visited the location to issue strong reprimands to the parking attendants. “We have gone directly to the site to give stern warnings as well as advice to the parking attendants there. If violations are still found, we will not hesitate to carry out enforcement together with the Satpol PP,” he said when contacted by Kompas.com on Friday. He added that monitoring would continue in collaboration with the Satpol PP to ensure such practices do not recur. As a long-term measure, the Sudishub will conduct surveys and write to area managers to provide more adequate parking facilities. “The initial step now is guidance through warnings. Next, we will ensure there is a long-term solution, including encouraging the provision of proper parking land,” Agus explained. The Kembangan Sub-District Head, Joko Suparno, stated that his office would also conduct routine enforcement through weekly patrols. “We will take action through the ‘Rabu Tertib’ activities. In addition, we will write to area managers to immediately provide adequate parking facilities, both for two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles,” Joko said. In a post on the Instagram account @warga.jakbar, a resident claimed to have been forced to pay Rp 10,000 for motorcycle parking. “I feel so unwilling; I just stopped briefly and was immediately asked for parking money, forced Rp 10,000, saying because it’s Eid, parking rates go up. But it’s actually a public road and close to the mayor’s office,” the post read. Revi (26), a resident of Rawa Buaya, Cengkareng, also claimed to have been a victim of forced parking fees on the first day of Eid, Saturday (21/3/2026). At that time, she was initially asked to pay Rp 20,000, which was then reduced to Rp 15,000 after she refused. “After I went for a walk, suddenly when I was about to get into the car, I was told to pay for parking, initially demanded Rp 20,000, I was shocked. Then when I refused, he lowered it to Rp 15,000, saying because it’s Eid, for THR,” Revi said.
