West Jakarta Road Infrastructure Agency Tidies Up Disordered Overhead Cables in Kalideres
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The West Jakarta Road Infrastructure Sub-Department tidied up disordered overhead cables on Jalan Peta Barat, Pegadungan, Kalideres, on Tuesday.
West Jakarta Mayor Iin Mutmainah stated that the stacked overhead utility cables had previously made the area shabby and chaotic, necessitating immediate action.
“Besides area tidying, the aim is also to enhance security and comfort for road users,” Iin said in Jakarta on Tuesday.
According to her, this tidying is part of implementing the mandate of Regional Regulation (Perda) Number 8 of 1999 on Utility Networks and Perda Number 1 of 2012 on the Regional Spatial Plan (RTRW).
“The implementation of the tidying also refers to Perda Number 106 of 2019 on Guidelines for Utility Network Management, as well as Perda Number 8 of 2025 on the Placement of Utility Networks,” she said.
The tidying, she added, will also provide understanding and a deterrent effect to the operators, in the hope that they will comply with the rules regarding the construction and placement of utility networks in DKI Jakarta.
“These utilities belong to 22 operators. We hope all of them adhere to the provisions, and these utility networks must comply with the existing regulations,” Iin said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the West Jakarta Road Infrastructure Sub-Department, Taufik Hendayana, added that the cable tidying, involving dozens of combined personnel, was carried out along four kilometres.
“This tidying is a continuation of activities that have been carried out since 2023. The tidying will be done until 2027 along 18 kilometres,” he said.
Today’s tidying was realised through collaboration with the ranks of the Association of Telecommunications Service Providers (Apjatel) without using the Regional Budget (APBD).
“The tidying on Jalan Peta Utara is targeted to be completed today. We will also tidy up disordered overhead cables on Jalan Joglo Raya along one kilometre,” Taufik said.
