West Jakarta Police Station Permits Homecoming Travellers to Leave Vehicles at Police Offices
Jakarta — West Jakarta Metro Police is inviting residents planning to return to their hometowns for the Eid holiday to leave their vehicles at the nearest police station in their area.
“We accept vehicle deposits at the district police stations (Polsek) and the metro police office. Please contact the police emergency line at 110 or your nearest Polsek office,” said Deputy Chief of West Jakarta Metro Police, AKBP Rezi Dharmawan, following a deployment rally for Operation Ketupat Jaya in Kembangan on Thursday.
Rezi also urged homecoming travellers to ensure their homes are secured before departing for their hometowns.
“We advise ensuring that the condition of the houses to be left vacant for a considerable period is secure. It would be good to also check electrical appliances to prevent fire incidents and electrical short circuits,” said Rezi.
West Jakarta Metro Police, together with the West Jakarta City Leadership Communications Forum (Forkopimko), has deployed 1,300 personnel for Operation Ketupat 2026. The operation focuses on securing homecoming travel, religious worship activities, and tourism.
“The main focus is on residents travelling home. Then we will secure places of worship during Eid prayers, tourist attractions, shopping centres, and roads. In essence, those are our priorities,” said Rezi.
Additionally, Rezi stated that special teams have been formed to anticipate street crime during this period.
Beyond street crime, Rezi noted that the task force will also focus on monitoring essential commodity prices during the Eid period. In conducting oversight of basic necessities, the police are collaborating with local government authorities.
“We must ensure that merchants do not unlawfully increase prices, especially for essential commodities. We will continue to monitor this closely,” he said.
