West Jakarta Mayor: Flooding in Puri Kembangan Due to Overflow from Angke River
West Jakarta Mayor Iin Mutmainnah stated that the cause of the flooding at the Puri Kembangan traffic light junction in South Kembangan was an overflow of water from the Angke River. The water level in the Angke River is still overflowing until this evening. “Regarding the flooding and long-standing puddles in the RT 1 RW 1 area, we see it from the perspective of the Angke River overflow,” said Iin to reporters after inspecting the flood at the location on Tuesday (5/4/2026). Currently, Iin assured that flood handling in the area is still ongoing. According to her, the city government has deployed vehicles from the Parks Sub-District Office to suck up the water. “These are vehicles from the Parks Sub-District. So we immediately reduce the potential for puddles entering residential areas,” she explained. Furthermore, Iin explained that she had directly monitored the conditions in RT 1 RW 1 which was inundated by flooding. She assured that her residents receive what is needed in the current situation. “We directly see the affected residents, we will ensure that all affected residents receive the needed services,” she stated. Meanwhile, the Head of the Water Resources Sub-District Office of West Jakarta, Mustajab, said that the water overflow in the Angke River is still high. According to him, the Angke River Post is still at Alert Level 2. “Still high, still high, quite high. Alert 2. Angke River Post Alert 2,” said Mustajab.
