West Jakarta Immigration Office ensures services continue following KPK sting operation
The Class I Special Non-Immigration Checkpoint Office of West Jakarta has ensured that operations and public services continue to run normally following a sting operation (OTT) conducted by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on Wednesday morning. The Head of Information and Immigration Communication at the West Jakarta Immigration Office, Siti Adytasia, emphasised that the arrest of an official within the office’s environment has not disrupted existing public services. “As of now, public services at the West Jakarta Immigration Office are running normally,” Siti stated via a text message in Jakarta on Wednesday. However, Siti noted that the West Jakarta Immigration Office is not yet able to provide more detailed information regarding the chronology or the identity of the official caught in the undercover operation. The office is currently awaiting further instructions and the results of coordination with central authorities. “For further confirmation on other matters, we are awaiting coordination with the Directorate General of Immigration,” she added. Previously, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) confirmed that it had conducted a sting operation and detained several officials within the West Jakarta Immigration Office on Wednesday. “That is correct,” said KPK Deputy Chairman Fitroh Rohcahyanto when confirmed in Jakarta on Wednesday. Nevertheless, the anti-corruption agency remains reluctant to disclose detailed information regarding the individuals detained or the evidence seized during the operation. In accordance with the provisions of the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP), the KPK has 24 hours to determine the legal status of the individuals detained in the sting operation.
