West Jakarta City Government Facilitates Recruitment of 1,000 Mikrotrans Conductors
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The West Jakarta City Government (Pemkot Jakbar) will facilitate the recruitment programme for 1,000 Mikrotrans conductors initiated by PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta). West Jakarta Mayor Iin Mutmainnah stated that the programme is expected to serve as a strategic solution for absorbing local workers while improving the quality of public transport services in Jakarta. “So, this programme will prioritise human resources from West Jakarta to fill the conductor needs,” she said during a meeting with PT Transportasi Jakarta on Tuesday. Her side also suggested collaboration with the Regional Work Training Centre (PPKD). “That is to ensure that prospective conductors have competencies in line with Transjakarta’s professional standards,” Iin added. In addition, Iin provided operational notes to Transjakarta regarding passenger safety and comfort. Thus, it is hoped that Transjakarta can provide maximum protection for vulnerable groups and be free from all forms of violence or sexual harassment. “As a global city public transport, Transjakarta’s fleet must be friendly to vulnerable groups and free from all forms of violence or sexual harassment,” she said. This considers that around 1,500 Mikrotrans conductors have reached the age of over 55 years. She stated that the entire recruitment process is free because it is funded by CSR funds managed through Baznas (Bazis) DKI Jakarta. “Each participant will receive various facilities including Medical Check-Up (MCU), psychological tests, and education at Transjakarta Academy,” she said. Regarding the criteria and requirements for prospective conductors, Mayangsari explained that applicants must have a DKI Jakarta ID card, be aged between 22 and 45 years, have at least high school education (to ensure decision-making ability on the road), and possess obedient, friendly (hospitality), and good emotional control characteristics. Currently, Transjakarta is implementing Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) and Driver Monitoring System (DMS) technology to monitor driver behaviour in real-time. In addition, through Transjakarta Academy, prospective conductors will undergo intensive four-day training, covering physical and mental development (Bintalsik), smooth driving techniques, and communication ethics. “We also target a 30 percent quota for female conductors. Currently, the first graduates of TJ Academy number 13 people and all are competent and professional women,” she emphasised. The socialisation schedule in the eight districts of West Jakarta is divided into two days of activities. On Thursday (16/4) in Kembangan and Cengkareng Districts (morning), then Kebon Jeruk and Kalideres Districts (afternoon). Meanwhile, on Friday (17/4) in Tamansari and Grogol Petamburan Districts (morning), then Tambora and Palmerah (afternoon). “For residents who are interested, registration is open as widely as possible without quota limits per area, but they must still go through the competency test stage (assessment),” said Mayangsari.
