West Jakarta City Government collects 78 sacrificial animals for distribution
West Jakarta City Government has collected 78 sacrificial animals for distribution to residents who applied. Mayor Iin Mutmainnah stated, “We have gathered 51 cows and 27 goats for distribution to organisations, mosques, small prayer halls, Islamic boarding schools, and applicants,” when questioned in Jakarta on Wednesday. The city government confirmed all animals were inspected by the West Jakarta Food Security, Marine and Fisheries Department (Sudin KPKP), with veterinarians conducting health checks coordinated by the department head. Iin thanked contributors and urged the public to maintain safety, cleanliness, and comfort in West Jakarta. “Eid al-Adha signifies our deep concern for the community. We must continue fostering unity and collaboration to implement beneficial programs for the people,” she added.
Tanti, Head of the Livestock and Animal Health Section at Sudin KPKP Jakarta Barat, said inspections ensure sacrificial animals are healthy, disease-free, and meet suitability requirements. “Health checks at mosques determine if animals are fit for sacrifice. Sixteen cows and eight goats were inspected at this mosque,” she said on Monday, 25 May. During inspections, officials thoroughly checked physical conditions including eyes, teeth, tongue, saliva samples, heart rate, body temperature, mouth, hooves, and nose. “We also verify Health Certificates (SKH) to ensure the animals meet health standards and Shariah requirements,” Tanti added. She emphasised the checks uphold halal and thayyib principles, ensuring public safety and confidence during the sacrificial ritual.
