Welcoming the Mudik Flow, the Jambi National Roads Implementation Agency (BPJN Jambi) is accelerating the sealing of thousands of potholes that still mark several national road segments in Bumi Sepucuk Jambi Sembilan Lurah, Jambi Province, ahead of this year’s Eid al-Fitr mudik.

According to BPJN Jambi Head Dedy Hariadi, although the network is described as in good condition (91.36%), 5,260 pothole sites remain detectable on the national road network stretching 1,318 kilometres across 11 regencies and cities in Jambi Province.

“About seventy-three percent has already been addressed to ensure the safety and comfort of travellers this year. The remaining work to seal potholes is targeted to be completed by 10 March,” Dedy told reporters in Jambi on Thursday (5/3).

Not only sealing potholes, to support smooth and safe mudik travel, BPJN also conducts drainage channel cleaning, trimming hedges along the verges of roads, and preparing road markings at several locations.

“For this year’s mudik preparations, we at BPJN are also coordinating with the Jambi Police (Polda Jambi), BPTD (Balai Pengelola Transportasi Darat) and other related agencies. Our focus is to ensure the national roads are ready to be traversed by travellers,” Dedy said.

He added that of the total length of national roads of 1,318.90 kilometres in Jambi, around 1,205 kilometres or 91.36% are in a stable condition. Meanwhile, the sections classified as having minor damage total 99.91 kilometres (7.57%), and those with severe damage 14.05 kilometres or 1.07%.

EMERGENCY POST

In addition to road repairs, to optimise service during the mudik period, BPJN Jambi will establish 11 Eid Readiness Posts spread across strategic points at the borders of districts and towns in Jambi Province.

The posts will begin operating on 10 March and run to 29 March 2026 and are prepared to support the service to mudik travellers. The 24-hour posts will be equipped with mushola (prayer rooms), toilets, and rest areas for travellers.
