Wedding party turns lethal

BANYUMAS, Central Java: One person has died and 51 others have
been hospitalized for suspected food poisoning.

All fell ill after attending a wedding party in the village of
Kedungbanteng.

Head of the local health office Mambo Diyanto has instructed
his subordinates to give special attention to the incident,
particularly because the number of diarrhea cases in the region
has been quite high.

Some 200 people in the Banyumas regency are treated every week
for diarrhea, he said.

Mambo has ordered chlorination of all the wells in the region,
mass treatment for the victims and mass health courses in the
villages.(wah)
