Weather Forecast for Friday, 6 March 2026: Beware Heavy Rain Across Java to Nusa Tenggara Triggered by Tropical Cyclone Disturbances 90S and 92S
BMKG foresees significant weather potential across several Indonesian regions on Friday, 6 March 2026. The conditions are influenced by Tropical Cyclone Disturbance 90S in the southwest Indian Ocean south of Java, and Tropical Cyclone Disturbance 92S in the Gulf of Carpentaria.
BMKG explains that Tropical Cyclone Disturbance 90S has a maximum wind speed of 35 knots with a minimum central pressure of 998 hPa, and is moving eastward. The system induces the formation of a low-level jet in the southern Indian Ocean from south of East Java to south of West Nusa Tenggara, and creates convergence and confluence zones in waters south of Banten to south of West Nusa Tenggara.
Meanwhile, Tropical Cyclone Disturbance 92S in the Gulf of Carpentaria is tracked at a maximum wind speed of 15 knots with a pressure of 1004 hPa. This system also triggers low-level jet formation in its surrounding area. In addition, a low-pressure center has been observed in the North Pacific Ocean north of Papua New Guinea, forming a convergence zone in waters north of Papua.
These atmospheric dynamics heighten the potential for cloud development and rainfall in affected areas. BMKG urges caution for potential heavy to very heavy rain in the Bangka Belitung Islands, Banten, Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta Special Region, West Nusa Tenggara, and East Nusa Tenggara.
