President Prabowo Subianto led a simultaneous corn harvest event organised by the Indonesian National Police in Tuban, East Java. Wearing a cowboy hat, Prabowo harvested corn using heavy machinery.

The Simultaneous Corn Harvest for the Second Quarter of 2026 and the Groundbreaking of 10 Food Security Warehouses of the Indonesian National Police were held in Dusun Kedung Sari, Tuwiri Wetan, Merakurak, Tuban, on Sunday (16 May 2026). After delivering a speech and participating in the groundbreaking ceremony, Prabowo proceeded with the corn harvest.

Prabowo was accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan, Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman, and Chief of the Indonesian National Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo while operating the corn reaper machine. Wearing a cream-coloured cowboy hat, Prabowo harvested three rows of corn, approximately 30 metres in length.

In his speech, Sigit stated that in 2025, the Indonesian National Police successfully planted corn on 661,112 hectares of land, yielding 3.9 million tons of harvest.

“This also contributed to the increase in national corn production in 2025, by 6.74 per cent or 1.8 million tons. To continue this achievement, there is potential land that we need to cultivate, which is 1.37 million hectares spread across Indonesia,” said Sigit.

In January 2026, Sigit said that the Indonesian National Police also conducted a harvest for the first quarter on 91,000 hectares of land, yielding 884,129 tons. Today, it is the corn harvest for the second quarter.

“Furthermore, today, led by Mr. President, we will carry out the simultaneous corn harvest for the second quarter on 189,760 hectares of land, with the potential to yield around 1.23 million tons,” he said.

From this harvest, 100 tons of corn will be exported to Malaysia, and farmers are expected to benefit from this corn export. Specifically in Tuban, corn is cultivated on 101.5 hectares of land.

“From this land area, the potential harvest is estimated to reach 609 tons, and all the harvest will be sent to Bulog to support the strengthening of the government’s food reserves and maintain supply stability,” he explained.
