The Bandung City Environmental Agency (DLH) has confirmed that the process of transporting waste to the Sarimukti Final Disposal Site (TPA) has resumed. Accordingly, waste management at several points is gradually returning to normal conditions.

Head of DLH Bandung City, Darto, stated that the waste pile-up that had occurred was anticipated due to transportation restrictions in recent times.

“Today, transportation has just started again. So if it looks full in the morning, by evening there will be a gradual reduction,” he said to the Bandung City Public Relations, on Monday (23/3/2026).

He explained that currently, waste transportation and processing have resumed, although not yet optimal as on normal days. Based on monitoring through the Smart Waste Management (SWM) system, transportation and processing activities have been ongoing at various points.

“Transportation is running, processing is also running. This evening, a significant reduction is projected at several points,” he said.

Nevertheless, Darto acknowledged that there are still several Temporary Waste Collection Points (TPS) experiencing pile-ups. This is influenced by “accumulated” waste from previous days and daily transportation quota limitations.

Several TPS that are of concern include those in the Ciwastra, Cijambe, and Jalan Indramayu areas. At these three locations, handling has been carried out, but the waste volume is confirmed not to be fully resolved in one day.

In addition to transportation to the TPA, waste processing efforts at the neighbourhood level are also continuing through the Gaslah programme. As of Monday (23/3/2026) at 12:29 WIB, four districts have exceeded their daily targets. Meanwhile, 10 districts are at achievements above 50 percent up to below 100 percent of the daily target, and the rest are still below 50 percent or in red zone status.

Based on data from DLH Bandung City, several districts that have surpassed the daily target include Ujungberung, Bandung Kidul, and Batununggal. Districts with achievements above 50 percent include Cibiru, Gedebage, Kiaracondong, Arcamanik, Antapani, and Mandalajati.

DLH Bandung City estimates that the waste processing achievements through Gaslah will continue to increase until evening, with the target for all districts to exceed 50 percent of the daily target.

DLH Bandung City has also coordinated across regional agencies to ensure effective handling. Coordination meetings with neighbourhoods and related agencies have been held to monitor field conditions and accelerate handling at priority points.

Darto assured that starting tomorrow, waste management activities will be gradually increased, both in terms of transportation to TPS, transportation to TPA, and processing at various points.

“Tomorrow it can return to normal. Both transportation to TPS, transportation to TPA, and processing will be increased again,” he said.

He urged the public to remain calm and participate in efforts to reduce waste at the source. Regarding the waste pile-up conditions at TPS, the City Government ensures continuous monitoring and handling.
