Several areas of Jakarta face the potential risk of coastal tidal flooding during 25 February–1 March 2026. The public has been advised to increase their level of caution.

“Based on information from the Indonesian Meteorological, Climatological and Geophysical Agency (BMKG) Class I Maritime Meteorology Station at Tanjung Priok regarding an Early Warning for Coastal Tidal Flooding (Rob) from 25 February to 1 March 2026, the occurrence of a maximum sea tide phenomenon coinciding with perigee has the potential to increase the height of maximum tidal water in the form of coastal tidal flooding or rob in the northern coastal areas of Jakarta,” according to a statement from the Jakarta Disaster Management Agency (BPBD DKI Jakarta) Instagram account (@bpbddkijakarta) on Wednesday (25 February).

Peak maximum tide will occur between 05:00–09:00 Western Indonesian Time (WIB) in the following areas: Kamal Muara, Kapuk Muara, Penjaringan, Pluit, Ancol, Kamal, Marunda, Cilincing, Kalibaru, Muara Angke, Tanjung Priok, and the Thousand Islands.

Regarding the potential for coastal tidal flooding in northern Jakarta’s coastal areas, the public is advised to:

— Heighten vigilance regarding changes in weather and sea conditions.

— Avoid activities in flood-risk coastal areas, particularly during high tides.

— Ensure that drainage systems around homes function properly to prevent water accumulation.

— Monitor early warning alerts for tidal surges via bpbd.jakarta.go.id/gelombanglaut

— Download the Flood Preparedness Guide at tiny.cc/bukusakusiagabanjir

— Report any potential flooding or water accumulation through the JAKI application
