Agus Jabo explained that the People’s School is a programme from President Prabowo Subianto aimed at breaking the transmission of poverty through education. In line with the Ministry of Social Affairs’ push for the poor to graduate from poverty, the People’s School is expected to provide a pathway for underprivileged children to live independently and more prosperously.

This was stated during the closing of the State Assets Management Training for People’s School Managers in Bekasi today.

“Let us understand what Mr President is implementing now, so that in our technical and operational work, from starting the teaching process to handling technical matters like managing state assets, we truly have a spirit of nationalism that we are part of the great change being carried out by the President,” said Agus Jabo in a written statement on Friday (8/5/2026).

To the state assets managers, he reminded them that this activity is not just about safeguarding state property.

“Today, we are not merely talking about tables, chairs, buildings, vehicles, computers, or state inventory. We are talking about the mandate of the people. About the hopes of the little people who entrust their children’s future to the state,” he explained.

Through the People’s School, the spirit and hopes of children who have dropped out or cannot attend school are nurtured. They are picked up, accompanied, and guided to realise their dreams.

“Every bench in the people’s school, every sheet in the dormitory beds, every laptop used by students for learning, every plate of food served in the school kitchen—all of it comes from the people’s money. This must be heeded,” said Agus Jabo.

He added that all these facilities come from the people’s money that has been entrusted.

“From the taxes of small traders in the markets, from the sweat of labourers working in factories for 8 hours, sometimes overtime, from farmers’ harvests, from the hard work of fishermen who set out before sunrise, the assets we manage come from taxes taken from our brothers and sisters,” he stated.

“You are the guardians ensuring that every state asset is truly used for the people’s interests,” Agus Jabo continued.

He elaborated that if state assets are damaged due to negligence, the people will suffer. If state assets are lost due to dishonesty, the people lose their rights. If there is corruption in state assets management, what is betrayed is not only the state but the future of Indonesia’s poor children.

“Never play around with this mandate. Avoid all forms of deviation, manipulation, asset disappearance, personal interest usage, or practices that harm public trust,” he revealed.

He called for building a culture of shame towards corruption, fostering integrity, and becoming part of the great change and national revival.

“In your hands, the sustainability of the people’s schools is at stake. In your hands, the people’s money is entrusted to truly return for the people’s welfare,” he concluded.

For additional information, the State Assets Management Training has been running since 5 May 2026 and was attended by 332 participants consisting of 166 deputy school principals in charge of facilities and infrastructure and 166 state assets managers from People’s Schools in various regions.
