W Cup safety review ordered
NEW DELHI (AFP): Indian cricket officials are to check all
venues in the country for next year's World Cup after the stadium
wall collapse in Nagpur on Sunday which killed nine spectators
and injured 70.
"What happened at Nagpur was horrifying and I have asked
officials there to get to the bottom of the matter," said
Inderjit Singh Bindra, president of the Board of Control for
Cricket in India (BCCI).
Bindra stressed that a review had been ordered before Sunday's
tragedy during the India-New Zealand one-day international. A
newly constructed wall at the renovated Nagpur stadium collapsed
during the lunch break.
