VP Gibran launches free homecoming programme for 1,900 residents
He flagged off the departure of 39 buses bound for various cities and districts across Java, Sumatra, and Sulawesi in Jakarta, with 14 buses departing from the capital.
“Yes, there are 14 buses departing for Central Java and East Java. Let us pray for all participants in the program to arrive safely at their destinations,” Gibran said.
The vice president also inspected the roadworthiness of several buses and greeted travelers ahead of departure, reminding them to maintain their health as homecoming traffic is expected to peak soon.
On the same occasion, Danareksa President Director Yadi Jaya Ruchandi said the free homecoming program reflects support from state-owned enterprises for the government’s efforts to ensure affordable, safe, and comfortable travel for the public.
He emphasized the program’s inclusivity, noting that around 90 percent of participants are members of the general public rather than SOE employees who registered for the service.
“This initiative is a manifestation of our social responsibility,” Ruchandi said, adding that more than three thousand people applied for the program, exceeding its maximum capacity of 1,900 travelers.
He noted that the homecoming program has become an annual agenda, with participation increasing each year.
Ruchandi added that, in addition to Jakarta, buses also departed from other major cities, including Semarang, Medan, Makassar, and Surabaya in this year’s program.
He affirmed that the company is committed to continuing the program in the coming years to deliver sustained benefits to the public.
