VP: Development in Papua is a government priority
Manokwari (ANTARA) - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming stated that the government will continue to accelerate national development, with Papua being one of the priorities. When opening the 14th National Church Choir Festival (Pesparawi) in Manokwari, West Papua, on Saturday evening, VP Gibran said the development process, both in infrastructure and human empowerment, is no longer focused solely on Java but is now evenly distributed across Indonesia. “Development is no longer Java-centric, but Indonesia-centric. That is why the development of Papua is one of the President’s priorities. Starting from the construction of hospitals, People’s Schools, markets, Trans Papua, Free Nutritious Meals (MBG), and Fishermen’s Villages,” said VP Gibran Rakabuming. “The hope is that in the future this can reduce inequality, expand access, and improve the welfare of the Papuan people,” VP Gibran added. He highlighted one of the facilities built recently, namely Borarsi Field, which is being used for the 14th National Pesparawi event over the next few days. Regarding the facilities that have been built, he asked the people of Manokwari to continue to maintain and care for them properly. The public can report to the local government if they find damage and remind each other about its upkeep. He reminded that the development carried out by various parties for the Papuan people requires a conducive and peaceful situation. For this reason, the VP then expressed his appreciation for the message of peace and brotherhood in the organisation of the 14th National Pesparawi held in West Papua. “This is very relevant and we should all support it together,” concluded Gibran Rakabuming.
