Volvo EX30 Recall Affects Dozens of Units in Indonesia
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Volvo Cars has launched a global recall for the compact electric SUV EX30 due to a potential risk in the high-voltage battery that could lead to overheating. The recall involves around 40,323 EX30 units worldwide, and repairs involve replacing a module in the high-voltage battery pack.
Models included in the recall list comprise the Volvo EX30 Single Motor Extended Range and the Volvo EX30 Twin Motor Performance variants.
GM Sales & Operational Volvo Cars Indonesia, Heryanto Djayaputra, said the company is prepared to summon customers for repairs. ‘There is, but Volvo has already addressed it for our customers. We have started preparations, to call customers for the repair. Hopefully in the near future we can call customers,’ Heryanto said in Central Jakarta on Thursday (4 March 2026).
Meanwhile, Corporate Planning Volvo Cars Indonesia, Ilham Suryo Aldianto, explained that Volvo is still investigating the cause of the issue. According to Ilham, the issue was found in early 2024 production batches of EX30 that were shipped to several markets, including Indonesia. ‘But up to now Volvo continues to test to determine the issue, which affected the early 2024 production batches of EX30 that arrived in Indonesia. In terms of safety and concern, Volvo is monitoring the situation and some of those in Indonesia have already had the issue resolved,’ he said.
As a reminder, the batteries used in the affected vehicles are produced by Shandong Geely Sunwoda Power Battery Co., a joint venture affiliated with Geely.
As a precautionary measure, Volvo previously advised owners to limit charging to 70 percent until the repairs are completed.
