Vita Daya's power plant

SEMARANG (JP): PT Vita Daya Harapan plans to build a power plant, with an 100-megawatt (MW) capacity, in Bawen, near Semarang, Central Java.

The company, equally owned by PT Van Der Horst Indonesia (VDHI), PT Asia East Power and PT APAC, will spend about US$100 million on the plant.

VDHI's president Hadi Sutanto said here yesterday that the plant would be constructed in two stages and that the first stage was scheduled for completion in 1998.

"The first stage will have a capacity of 55 MW and this will all be sold to PT APAC Inti Corpora, a textile company," he said.

He said the company would build five generators, each with a capacity of 11.2 MW, in the first phase.

Another four generators, each with a 25-MW capacity, would be built in the second phase. (hen/har)
