Visitor to Tebet Eco Park Barred from Taking Photos Again, Management Responds
JAKARTA - A visitor to Tebet Eco Park claimed she was temporarily barred from taking photos by a staff member while in the park area on Thursday morning (19/3/2026). However, the management emphasised that there are no rules prohibiting non-commercial photography at the location. The visitor, named Zauza (20), said she came with several friends simply to meet up and take photos for personal collection. At the time, she was looking for a shaded spot due to the hot weather, but was suddenly approached by a staff member in a green uniform. “Initially, I thought it was just a routine question. But as he got closer, he immediately asked, ‘What activity are you doing, sir? Have you got permission?’ I felt unsure because he didn’t introduce himself,” Zauza said when contacted on Tuesday (24/3/2026). Her friend also mentioned that they had previously asked another staff member, and there was no requirement for permission just to take photos. However, the staff member reportedly insisted and even asked for Zauza’s personal details, such as her age and address. “He even asked how old I was and where I lived. Then he said, ‘At 20 years old, don’t you know basic manners?’ I asked again about the permission, but he ignored me,” she said. “He said, ‘This is a public place, but what if someone entered your house?’” Zauza recounted. The situation changed when Zauza turned on her camera and pointed it at the staff member. After that, his tone reportedly became softer, but they were asked to go to the reception building. “Then we were told to go to the reception building, all of us. He insisted that we all had to leave from there,” she explained. At the reception, Zauza reconfirmed the applicable rules. She claimed she did not find any prohibition on taking photos in the code of conduct shown by the staff.
