Visa transactions increase
JAKARTA (JP): Visa International said yesterday that
transactions with Visa cards in Indonesia increased by 28 percent
to US$1.2 billion in the first nine months of this year, from
$948 million during the same period of 1994.
"The use of Visa cards in Indonesia is recorded at an average
of 24 times per person annually, the second biggest after
Australia that recorded an average usage of 31 times," Lindsay C.
Pyne, Visa's president for the Asia-Pacific, said in a statement.
Indonesian Visa card holders' spending overseas rose 21
percent to $294 million in the January-September period, as
compared with $242 million in the corresponding period of last
year.
Visa currently has nine bank members in Indonesia, including
Bank Bali, Bank Internasional Indonesia, Bank Niaga, Bank Lippo,
Bank Central Asia and Bank Danamon.(04)
