Viral Video of Women Catching Suspected Umrah Fraudster in Central Jakarta, Police Intervene
A video has gone viral on social media showing a group of women apprehending a suspected umrah pilgrimage fraudster in the Senen area of Central Jakarta. Police have stepped in to investigate the case.
As seen by detikcom in the viral video circulating on Monday (16/2/2026), a crowd of residents could be seen stopping the suspect’s red car. A number of residents then surrounded the vehicle. Shortly afterwards, the suspected umrah fraudster was secured using a police 110 service vehicle.
In the video, it was narrated that the victims had deposited money since April 2025 with the promise of an umrah departure in January 2026. However, the victims have yet to be sent on the pilgrimage to this day.
Contacted separately, Senen Police Chief Kompol Widodo Saputro said the incident occurred on Friday (13/2) at 20:45 Western Indonesian Time. The chase and apprehension of the suspect took place on Jalan Kramat Raya No. 6, Central Jakarta.
“At around 20:45 WIB, the SPKT and duty officers of Senen Police, led by Padal Aiptu Supriadi, conducted a check based on information from Kramat Community Police Officer Aiptu Endro Cahyono and a 110 report from the district police that a complainant had secured an individual in front of the former District Police headquarters on Jalan Kramat Raya, Central Jakarta, who was suspected of fraud and/or embezzlement,” said Kompol Widodo.
Widodo stated that the case had in fact already been reported on 3 February 2026. The suspect has now been taken to the Central Jakarta Metro Police for further examination.
“Investigations revealed that the case had already been reported to the Central Jakarta Metro Police under report number LP. B/347/II/2026/SPKT/POLRES METRO JAK PUS/POLDA METRO JAYA dated 3 February 2026 at Jl. Sumur Batu Raya No. 8, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta,” said Widodo.
“The suspect along with their vehicle has subsequently been handed over to the State Security unit of the Central Jakarta Metro Police,” he added.
In the police report, two men have been named as suspects: Jemmi Mokodompit and Djuria Lasabuda. The complainant is Ade Peni Lita.
“The losses amount to Rp 20 million,” said Kompol Widodo.
