Viral Video of Vendor Accusing DKI Satpol PP of Illegal Levies Prompts Governor Pramono to Threaten Dismissals
A viral video on social media showing a vendor complaining about alleged illegal levies (pungli) by Satpol PP officers has prompted DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung to pledge action against any officials found to have engaged in extortion.
In the video, viewed by detikcom on Friday (20/2/2026), a vendor can be seen filming a Satpol PP officer standing by the roadside. The exact location of the vendor was not identified.
“This is the Satpol PP officer who collects monthly payments from vendors. He also gets free meals from us every day,” said the person recording the video.
“Trading on the streets is not allowed,” the Satpol PP officer responded.
“If cars parked on the street are in the wrong, then so be it — but we already pay every month,” the vendor shouted back.
In response, Pramono stated that if the allegations are proven true, the DKI provincial government would not hesitate to relieve the officer of duty. The administration would take a firm stance with no room for compromise on such cases.
“Let me be clear — if there are indeed illegal levies being carried out by anyone, whether Satpol PP or otherwise, as long as they are DKI Jakarta government personnel, including contract workers (PJLP), I will not hesitate to dismiss them. We will make no compromises on this,” Pramono told reporters in South Jakarta on Friday (20/2).
