Viral Video of Students Discarding Free Nutritional Meals in Bima; Nutritional Services Unit Provides Explanation
A video has circulated showing several students discarding free nutritional meal (MBG) packages into a pile of rubbish. The students took this action because the distributed MBG packages were allegedly stale and unfit for consumption.
According to an investigation, the video in question was recorded at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri (MIN) Ngali, Belo District, Bima Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). The video of students discarding the MBG packages went viral after being uploaded on Facebook on Monday, 2 March 2026.
In the video, the voice of the person recording can be heard stating that the food was stale and instructing the students to discard it because it was inedible. The MBG packages were packed in disposable plastic containers (thinwall).
“This is Belo MBG. Throw this away; it’s not fit to eat,” says a person in the video in front of the students.
“Ugh, it smells. The MBG is stale,” add several students as they discard the meal packages into the rubbish heap.
When contacted, the headmaster of MIN Ngali, Bisman, had not provided a response regarding the incident.
Meanwhile, the Nutritional Services Unit (Satuan Pemenuhan Pelayanan Gizi—SPPG) Lido of Belo District has denied that the MBG meals distributed to MIN Ngali were stale. SPPG Lido claims that the meal served, packaged in disposable plastic containers, is barongko, a traditional dish.
“It is not stale; it is the aroma of banana in the barongko. Barongko dishes do have a distinctive aroma, unlike pudding,” said a representative of SPPG Lido, Nana.
She stated that SPPG Lido had conducted a direct inspection at MIN Ngali. Several volunteers who were not fasting had already tasted and sampled the barongko meal. The results showed the food was still safe and fit for consumption.
“We have checked it directly. The condition is safe and still fit for consumption. We are also still keeping food samples at SPPG,” she concluded.
