Viral MBG Vehicle Used to Pick Up Passengers-Tourists, Owner Admits Mistake
The incident involving a vehicle from the Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi (SPPG) under the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme, which went viral for being used to pick up passengers at Lombok International Airport, has drawn significant attention. The vehicle owner has finally spoken out, admitting fault in the matter.
A 4-minute 23-second clarification video was uploaded to the Instagram account @supiandi367.
The woman named Kalsum denied in the video that the SPPG vehicle was used for personal purposes. The silver Grand Max vehicle, she said, was still being prepared for collaboration with one of the SPPG partners in East Lombok.
“The news circulating on social media about the use of the MBG vehicle for personal purposes at Lombok International Airport needs to be clarified: that vehicle is mine, which I am indeed preparing for collaboration with one of the kitchens in East Lombok,” Kalsum said in the video, quoted on Friday (3/4/2026).
According to her, the silver vehicle was fitted with BGN and SPPG stickers as part of the preparation for collaboration with one of the MBG kitchens in East Lombok. However, to date, the vehicle has not been officially partnered or used in MBG operations.
“Because the kitchen that will use my vehicle is still in the process of building the kitchen, which is about 80% complete,” she stated.
Kalsum, who was wearing a niqab, claimed that the vehicle with BGN and SPPG stickers was lent to her grandson, Supiandi, to pick up his mother who had just returned from Malaysia.
Kalsum admitted that the incident was purely a mistake. On that basis, she apologised to all parties who felt harmed.
“This happened due to a lack of understanding. That a vehicle that already has MBG stickers should not be used for personal purposes, even if its status is not yet officially partnered,” she said.
“With full awareness and humility, I refute the news stating that the MBG vehicle was used for personal purposes because in fact my vehicle has not yet collaborated with the MBG party. I apologise as sincerely as possible to the MBG party for the discomfort arising from this incident,” she continued.
Kalsum also apologised for the video that caused public unrest. She described the incident as a valuable lesson to be more careful.
“I apologise; this incident has become a lesson for me to be more careful and understand the applicable rules going forward,” she said.
The vehicle with licence plate DR 3622 KX is still in the process of administrative handling and has not operated officially. According to her, the vehicle does not yet have an STNK because it just came from the dealer and is still using a trial plate.
“So it is not yet part of MBG operations,” Kalsum said.
Supiandi, the man in the viral video who is Kalsum’s grandson, also apologised for the incident. He admitted that the vehicle was used to pick up his biological mother who had just returned from Malaysia at Lombok International Airport.
“I apologise to BGN, to the partners who will use this vehicle, and to all Indonesian people,” he emphasised.
In response, the NTB BGN Regional Coordinator, Eko Prasetyo, said his side would conduct an examination after the vehicle owner provided clarification via social media.
According to him, based on the video, the vehicle is not yet officially registered as a rented vehicle in any SPPG designated by BGN.
“Based on that admission, it also conveys that the vehicle is being prepared for a prospective SPPG (construction process). This might also become material for our evaluation to report to leadership regarding the regulation of stickers on SPPG vehicles, which must include the SPPG name and SPPG ID,” he asserted.
He added that the step aims to facilitate the identification of all BGN partner vehicles in each region in West Nusa Tenggara.
“Now we are checking the relevant location for us to verify and validate first,” Eko concluded.
