I am an owner of a house in the Villa Permata complex in
Tangerang, West Java. In July 1995 my house was burglarized but
up until now the developer has not accounted for the incident.
The burglars forced their way into the house through the window
of the kitchen. This mishap occurred in spite the fact that my
house is only a stone's throw from the security post.

When I reported the case to the security staff I got an
unbelievable reaction. They accused me of making up a story and
angrily asked me what I wished to do. When I met the head of the
marketing office of the project to report the case he promised to
look into the matter but nothing has happened so far.

I pay the security contribution regularly but there is no
guarantee that the complex is free from criminal acts. The
marketing brochures apparently contain empty promises just to
entice consumers into buying fenceless American style homes.
