View of Nearly Full Bulog Warehouse, BEM-SI Invited to Check Rice Stocks
Perum Bulog has invited students affiliated with the Indonesian Student Executive Body (BEM) to directly inspect the condition of the rice warehouse in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, on Wednesday (6/5/2026). This step aims to enhance transparency while addressing public doubts regarding national food stocks. During the visit, the students were shown the availability of rice up to the processing stages. They witnessed the flow from paddy to ready-to-consume rice, including the storage system in the Bulog warehouse. Based on observations at the site, piles of rice appeared to tower and nearly reach the warehouse ceiling. This condition reflects the high volume of rice stored in the facility. Bulog’s President Director, Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani, stated that the warehouse fill rate has reached 98 percent. Nearly all storage space is occupied, prompting Bulog to rent additional warehouses in other areas. He explained that Bulog has rented warehouses in Tangerang and several areas in Banten with a total capacity of 140,000 tonnes to support storage needs in DKI Jakarta and surrounding regions. With a total capacity of 355,000 tonnes, the volume of rice in the Kelapa Gading warehouse is now approaching the maximum limit of around 350,000 tonnes. This situation indicates an abundance of Government Rice Reserves (CBP). Nationally, Bulog’s rice stocks amount to 5.2 million tonnes, the highest in Indonesia’s history. The attending students assessed the condition as reflecting the government’s concrete efforts in maintaining food security and expressed optimism regarding future rice availability, including in facing potential El Niño effects.
