Vietnam gets help in AIDS campaign
HANOI (AFP): Vietnam has signed a cooperation agreement enabling it to draw on French scientific help in its campaign to fight AIDS, French diplomats said.
The framework agreement was signed by the Vietnamese National AIDS Commission and France's National Agency for AIDS Research, they said.
The program will chiefly focus on identifying the different types of acquired immune-deficiency syndrome (AIDS) present in Vietnam, an invaluable part of preventing and treating the disease.
Vietnam has recorded more than 3,000 cases of HIV, the virus that leads to full-blown AIDS, but the true figure is probably much higher.
