Vietnam exports TV tubes
HANOI (DPA): Vietnam started to export television tubes, with
a first shipment sent to Indonesia earlier this week, a company
official said yesterday.
The TV tubes are the result of a 178-million-dollar joint
venture, Orion-Hanel, between Daewoo, a South Korean firm, and
Hanoi Electronics Company, which is owned by the city government
in the Vietnamese capital.
The first shipment of 11,600 tubes was worth US$500,000 but
General Manager Chong-Nak Kim, said the firm expects to export
100,000 units more by the end of the year and racks up sales of
$5 to 6 million..
Next year export sales of both color and black-and-white tubes
are projected to rise to 1 million, generating about $60 million
in sales, Kim added.
