The effects of Middle East volatility are spreading wider with global supply chain disruptions causing energy price surges that threaten fertiliser raw material supplies. On the other hand, the war involving Iran, the United States, and Israel is pressuring the exchange rates of many countries worldwide, including the Rupiah.

For the medical equipment industry that still relies on imported raw materials, the weakening Rupiah is said by Febie Yuriza Poetri, Vice Chairman General of the Indonesian Medical Equipment Producers Association (ASPAKI), to be a stumbling block for business resilience.

Febie Yuriza Poetri stated that the imported raw materials for medical equipment, which are still largely imported, are causing production costs to skyrocket, while the local medical equipment market is 70% government-dominated, making it difficult to raise selling prices.

Facing this situation, the medical equipment industry must mitigate risks by pressing down production costs and margins. Therefore, business owners hope for government support to provide room for adjusting the selling prices of medical equipment products.

What is the impact of the Middle East war on Indonesia’s medical equipment industry? For more details, watch the dialogue between Serliana Salsabila and Febie Yuriza Poetri, Vice Chairman General of the Indonesian Medical Equipment Producers Association (ASPAKI), in Profit, CNBC Indonesia (Tuesday, 31/03/2026).
